Privacy
Beamaway has no accounts and no Beamaway servers between you and your TV. The apps talk to your own HDHomeRun tuner and, if you use one, a relay running on your own Mac or on the Mac of whoever invited you.
In the apps
- Your sign-in to a relay is kept in your device's keychain. Favorites, hidden channels and other preferences stay on the device, or on the relay when its admin shares channel defaults.
- The apps don't include analytics, advertising or crash-reporting services.
- Beamaway for Mac checks this site for updates and downloads them from GitHub. Like any web request, these carry your IP address and the app’s version; they send nothing else about you or your Mac.
On a relay
A relay runs on its owner's Mac and is under their control. It keeps what it needs to run: who signed in and from which address, which channels are playing, recent activity and problem reports, and chat messages from the last two hours. Its admin can see this in the relay dashboard. To show what's on, a relay fetches the program guide for its tuner from SiliconDust, the maker of HDHomeRun. If its owner reaches it through Cloudflare Tunnel, its traffic passes through Cloudflare.
